6 – Coriolis effect, Eggplant, House hopping

At Woods Hole this morning, we had oatmeal for breakfast! I put fresh fruit and peanut butter on the oatmeal and it was really good. During history we continued the importance of whaling to people in the 1800s. In nautical science we learned about weather patterns and how to read black and white weather maps! We started talking about navigation but we will go into further detail tomorrow. In oceanography we did an experiment! We are learning about the Coriolis effect. In the experiment we found that salt water has more density than fresh water. This information will help us when we are out sailing on the Cramer. During free time I did a workout with my friend Aiden here! It felt good to workout and I almost beat him on the runs! For dinner we had eggplant parmigiana. I have never had eggplant before but I really liked it. After study hall we started to go around to each house and participate in activities they came up with. In A house they had jeopardy, B house we all sang sea shanties in a makeshift pirate boat made from an upside down table, bamboo as the mast and a sheet as the sail. In C house (my house) we made a big fort and we watched Phineas and Ferb; the backyard hodge podge. Then in D house we learned how to salsa! It was a lot of fun. I am really enjoying my time at SEA and I love the people here. Thank you mom and dad for this opportunity!! I love learning! (don’t worry this is still your daughter typing)
